Rolling stock leasing company Akiem has announced a new customer for three Siemens ES64F4 locomotives – Ost-West Logistic Poland.

The French-based leasing company made the announcement on the second day of the transport logistic exhibition in Munich. Three Class 189 locomotives will be leased to the Ost-West Logistic Polska operator, with the first locomotive coming at the end of May. The operator will use these multisystem locomotives on routes connecting Poland, Germany and the Netherlands. Locomotives will receive the Akiem corporate livery with Ost-West Logistic Poland stickers on the side panels.

Last year, Akiem acquired 37 of the Siemens ES64F4 “EuroSprinter” MS locomotives from its competitor, MRCE. After changing the livery from black to silver and red, they were leased to various customers, including ČD Cargo, EP Cargo, Medway Italia, Retrack, and TX Logistik.

Ost-West Logistic Poland is a member of OWLN, a company founded in 1998 in Ukraine with strong ties to the mining and steel industry. In Poland and further west, the company will focus on moving commodities, such as the increasing grain traffic from Ukraine. With headquarters in Vienna and five regional services, it aims to develop pan-European rail connections.
