ČD Cargo: new Vectron locomotives

ČD Cargo: new Vectron locomotives
@cdcargo.cz

At the end of March this year, two new 393 Vectron AC locomotives with an auxiliary diesel engine (DPM) will join the ČD Cargo fleet.

These locomotives are part of the Siemens X4 modular platform, which includes locomotives for various purposes and systems.

The 393 series locomotives are four-axle interoperable dual-system locomotives capable of running at speeds of up to 200 km/h on 15 kV (16 2/3 Hz) and 25 kV (50 Hz) AC traction systems. The new locomotives are equipped with an auxiliary diesel engine (DPM - Diesel Power Module) for operation on handling tracks and sidings without traction catenary or for shunting. The DPM module consists of a 180 kW diesel unit located in the engine room and a fuel tank.

As the inscription on the locomotives indicates, they are intended primarily for use in Austria and Germany - they will be used mainly by our foreign subsidiaries. The home base of SOKV will be České Budějovice. However, ČD Cargo drivers will also be trained to operate the 393 series engines.
