These vehicles can be operated both as trams and as regional trains. They can run at speeds of up to 100 km/h.

Stadler will carry out the first scheduled overhaul of 26 traction units and 26 running gears. The overhaul will take place from 2022 to 2024 at Stadler's bogie overhaul center in Schönwalde-Glien near Berlin. The first bogies for this will be delivered in summer 2022.

"We are pleased to intensify our cooperation with CVAG with the revision contract signed today. This is the first inspection contract for light rail vehicles for our bogie inspection center in Schönwalde-Glien, which will open in 2021, a location with a very high vertical range of manufacture and state-of-the-art complete equipment. We are particularly proud to be able to incorporate our experience as a rail vehicle developer and manufacturer of the CITYLINK fleet into this order," says Edzard Lübben, Managing Director of Stadler Rail Service Deutschland GmbH.

"We have succeeded in gaining Stadler as a powerful partner for the revision of the CITYLINK bogies. As a subsidiary of the rail vehicle manufacturer Stadler, the company has access to all the technical and personnel resources in the group of companies and thus optimal conditions from which we will benefit together. With a plant in Schönwalde-Glien, Stadler also has a modernly equipped competence center and extensive know-how specifically for the overhaul of bogies," says David Joram, Head of Technical Service at CVAG.

The hybrid light rail vehicles from Stadler can be used both as trams and as regional trains at speeds of up to 100 km/h and were tailored entirely to the infrastructural conditions of the Chemnitz rail network. In the tram network, they can be operated in overhead line mode with a DC voltage of 600 or 750 volts, in the railway network the vehicles are driven diesel-electrically. The vehicles are also designed for different platform heights and have toilets and luggage racks. CITYLINK is a modular, barrier-free low-floor light rail family that offers a high standard of safety and ride comfort.
