The passenger wagon fleet renewal program at Ukrzaliznytsia has been ongoing since 2021 when 100 new passenger wagons from the domestic manufacturer were ordered. This part of the program was performed despite the war, and the new fleet contributed significantly to evacuating Ukrainian citizens.
Funded by the government, Ukrzaliznytsia now ordered 44 more wagons, which the Kryukiv Wagon Building Plant will produce. These will renew the existing fleet and complement the rolling stock lost due to shelling from the Russian army. New wagons should be delivered within two years.
