The new cross-border train will run twice a week and transport vans over a distance of more than 1300 km, connecting the Polish and French rail corridors via Germany.

CFL cargo has announced a new partnership with Bertani Trasporti to launch a new rail link between the port of Gliwice in Poland and Marckolsheim in France. The new cross-border train will operate two round trips per week, transporting vans over a distance of more than 1,300 km. The new service has a transport capacity of 19 wagons and efficiently connects the Polish and French rail corridors via Germany.

This partnership represents a significant step towards a modal shift in the freight industry, as it will transfer the equivalent of more than 2,300 trucks from road to rail, resulting in a reduction of approximately 10,200 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.

The rail traction for this service will be provided by CFL cargo in Germany and France, in cooperation with DB Cargo Polska, which will take over in Poland.

“We are pleased to work with Bertani Trasporti and are committed to providing them sustainable rail solutions that ease the modal shift of their transport flows to rail. This new connection between Gliwice Port and Marckolsheim is an extension of our network in Europe and will give us the opportunity to strengthen our service offering for Eastern, Central and West Europe,” said Sven Löffler, Chief Commercial Officer of CFL multimodal.
