With a total surface area of 72,545m2, these facilities will be key to the development of freight and rail logistics services, thus promoting intermodal transport in the northeastern region of the Iberian Peninsula.

Adif has recently awarded CSP Iberian Zaragoza Rail a significant contract to lease facilities at the Zaragoza-Plaza Freight Logistics Centre. The contract, worth almost 3 million euros, gives the company access to 72,545 m2 of space to develop key freight and rail logistics services. This strategic move aims to boost intermodal transport in the north-eastern region of the Iberian Peninsula and will play a key role in the development of the Algeciras-Zaragoza Railway Highway.

The contract is for an initial period of six years, starting on 1 August, with the possibility of an extension of up to three years. As part of the agreement, a minimum initial investment of 1.5 million euros has been set for the first two years. The winning company will be responsible for providing loading and unloading services for road semi-trailers arriving at or departing from the freight terminal. Additionally, the contract includes various train logistics services, such as shunting with or without locomotive and fuel dispensing for rail vehicles.

Among the freight logistics services to be offered are UTI handling (movement of UTI from wagon to truck, from truck to wagon, and from truck to truck), UTI storage (except for dangerous goods), refrigerated container facilities, UTI cleaning and repair, inspection, customs services, haulage management and/or contracting, container weighing, commercial invoicing of the train and its UTIs, and more.

The logistics center is well equipped with 16 electrified tracks for train handling and a vast area of 290,000 m2 dedicated to future logistics activities. The 37,000m2 loading and unloading yard facilitates efficient intermodal transport of goods, including five tracks for handling container trains up to 750m long and an additional 600m track for conventional freight trains.
