Tesmec Rail, a subsidiary of Tesmec Group specializing in infrastructure technologies, and Škoda Group, a manufacturer of electric traction systems and vehicles for public transport, have signed a cooperation agreement to develop innovative and environmentally friendly products for the rail sector. The partnership aims to meet the growing demand for sustainable railway infrastructure and contribute to the energy and environmental transition. The collaboration will leverage Škoda Group's electrically-powered traction solutions and Tesmec Rail's expertise in railway working and diagnostic vehicles. Deliveries of the 44 sets of components will be carried out between 2024 and 2028.
The customized products resulting from the collaboration will serve both the diagnostic rail vehicle market and the catenary construction and maintenance vehicle market. This integrated green product will not only minimize environmental impact but will also improve rail safety by incorporating modern technologies.
The collaboration between Tesmec Rail and Škoda Group builds upon their previous successful partnership. In 2020, Tesmec Rail won a tender from RFI (Rete Ferroviaria Italiana) for the supply of four electrified rolling stocks for the diagnosis of the Italian network. In 2022, RFI again selected Tesmec Rail for the supply of 44 electric traction vehicles equipped with a bimodal propulsion system.
