DHL Global Forwarding, a leading logistics company, has announced a strategic partnership with Etihad Rail, the developer, and operator of the UAE National Rail Network. The collaboration marks a significant milestone as it is the first commercial partnership for freight services since the network became operational. The agreement aims to leverage the extensive rail infrastructure in the UAE to enhance DHL Global Forwarding's operations and promote sustainable logistics solutions.
As part of the agreement, a joint venture will be established to allow DHL Global Forwarding to use Etihad Rail's network for its core operations in the UAE. Under the terms of the partnership, DHL Global Forwarding will integrate rail as one of its primary modes of transportation for distributing goods across the UAE. Leveraging the extensive railway network connecting key industrial hubs, DHL aims to optimize its logistics operations and provide efficient customer service.
The 20-year partnership between DHL and Etihad Rail is expected to bring significant benefits to companies operating in the UAE. By incorporating rail as a primary mode of transport, DHL aims to optimize time and resource utilization, reduce costs and improve asset management efficiency. The partnership will also help strengthen end-to-end logistics and supply chain services for customers in the region.
