The Škoda Group has won a contract to modernize six couchette coaches for the Austrian state railway ÖBB. The modernization work will include upgrades to beds, lighting, and bathrooms as well as a new barrier-free compartment, making the night train journey more comfortable and enjoyable for passengers.
The work will be carried out at Škoda Group's production site in Šumperk, with delivery scheduled by 2024. The contract also includes an option for an additional 28 coaches. With its expertise in innovative solutions, Škoda Group aims to continue to provide passengers with comfortable and enjoyable travel experiences, whether they are travelling for business or adventure.

"Austria and the wider region West are very important markets for our group, and this contract further strengthens our commitment to the region.”
This is a significant milestone for Škoda Group, as it marks another important order in the West region, where the company wants to further strengthen its position. Škoda Group has already produced and modernized night coaches for several European countries, with a new order for Finland to produce nine sleeping coaches and eight freight wagons for cars, which resemble hotel rooms for passenger comfort, and are to be put into service by the end of 2025.
