Michal Krapinec is an experienced manager with good qualifications to help Czech Railways overcome the post-Covid period and now the invasion of Ukraine. Under his leadership, Czech Railways will focus on those services that stand up to the offer of Czech carriers, not only in comparison with the offer of Czech carriers, but also in the whole of Europe," says Transport Minister Martin Kupka.
Michal Krapinec, a graduated lawyer, started his career in advocacy. Since 2012 he has been working for the ČD Group. At ČD Cargo, he served as secretary to the company's management and subsequently took over the management and asset management unit, where he was in charge of foreign expansions. Later he was a member of the Board of Directors of ČD Logistics, a member of the Supervisory Board of ČD - Information Systems, and in the parent company he managed the Strategy and Asset Management Department and the Project Office Department.
"Czech Railways has been through a difficult period. They have learnt to operate in a liberalised environment and managed a huge drop in revenues during the coronavirus crisis. To meet the expectations of their customers, they are investing heavily in vehicles and service development. Since the beginning of the schedule alone, we have put into service over a hundred brand new cars," says Michal Krapinec, the newly elected Chairman of the Board and CEO of the largest passenger railway carrier in the Czech Republic.
