The service is designed to support the development of intermodal transport throughout Ukraine and integration into the European container train system.

This week Ukrzaliznytsia JSC has introduced a new intermodal service that combines the transportation of container trains, and combined trains on the basis of rolling stock of the Liski Transport Service Center branch. The service is provided to intermodal train operators who conclude a contract with the company for the provision of intermodal rail freight services.

"We strive for significant development and integration of rail transport into the European area. The Russian offensive has unfortunately limited many options, but we are constantly exploring all available opportunities, and the new service confirms this," said Oleksandr Kamyshin, Chairman of the Board of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia. According to Kamyshin, the new service will contribute to regularity, predictable transit times as well as predictable intermodal train costs.

"We are also ready to introduce intermodal train services for domestic and international transport. We are already considering the possibility of organizing trains to Poland, Romania, Austria, and Turkey. We hope that our partners will also be interested in developing such transport," Kamyshin concludedUkrz. Despite the difficult situation during the war and the blockade of shipping, Ukrzaliznytsia is also trying to implement a number of measures to reduce the cost of grain transport.
