According to the information provided by the carrier, the amount is intended to cover the costs of train journeys on the tracks managed by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe, locomotive and wagon stop, the use of railway infrastructure, and service infrastructure facilities.
A year ago, the value of the contract between the companies was PLN 666,1 million gross (PLN 541,5 million net).
PKP Cargo S.A. is engaged in freight transport, intermodal transport, rail, and road forwarding in Poland and abroad, management and operation of 25 transshipment yards, operation of railway sidings, and repair of rolling stock. In 2021, the company achieved revenues of PLN 4.27 million and transported more than 101 million tonnes of goods. It transports goods on approximately 650 trains daily.
PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. manages, refurbishes, modernizes, and maintains the railway infrastructure and is responsible for the scheduling of passenger, freight, and special trains. It is responsible, among other things, for the maintenance of 18,57 thousand km of operating railway lines, 38,25 thousand switches, 11,67 thousand level crossings, and 25,11 thousand engineering structures (data as of 31 December 2021).
In 2021, more than 1.66 million passenger trains and almost 446 000 freight trains will run on Polish tracks.
